Tweedmouth Bowling Club Raises a ‘Killer’ £1405

Tweedmouth Bowling Club recently held its much-anticipated annual Killer Bowls, an event that serves as a heartfelt tribute to the legacy of their beloved former member and charity supporter, Carol Ditchfield. This year’s competition brought together bowlers and supporters alike, creating a vibrant community spirit. The evenings culminated in an exciting finale, with Kay Purves from Chirnside taking home the title for the ladies, while David Crisp from Tweedmouth claimed victory for the men. Their impressive performances were a testament to the dedication and competitive spirit that Carol inspired. Organising such a successful event requires great effort, and the club extends its heartfelt gratitude to the many individuals who contributed to this year’s fundraiser. Special thanks go to Betty Dryden, Irene Mavin, Margaret Hamilton, David Wakenshaw, and Dougie Cranston, whose hard work and commitment were instrumental in making the events a success. Additionally, the club acknowledges all the bowlers and non-bowlers who participated and supported the events, demonstrating the strength of community ties. The competition resulted in a special presentation to our charity where a generous cheque for £1,405.00 was handed over. This donation will go a long way in supporting our vital services and furthering the mission of providing assistance to those in need. As the club looks ahead, there is excitement for the next season and the continuation of the Killer Bowls tradition.

We were also delighted to announce plans to replace our oldest car in the next few months and to name it ‘Jack’ – a nod to the ‘target ball’ in lawn bowls. This decision reflects not only our appreciation but also to recognise the collaborative efforts of both Tweedmouth and Spittal Bowling Clubs in supporting our work over many, many years.
