Roddy at the Roddam Court Christmas Lights

Saturday 4th December, 2021. At Berwick Cancer Cars our volunteers take enormous pride when naming our new cars. Each of our dedicated cancer transportation cars has been specially named to celebrate and commemorate the tremendous support we receive from the amazing people of Berwick & District. The name ‘Roddy’, our first Subaru and exciting brand new addition to our small fleet of cars, was chosen by our committee in recognition of the residents of Roddam Court who each year raise thousands of pounds in aid of Berwick Cancer Cars with their very popular “Roddam Court Christmas Lights” display.

On Saturday night at 6pm, Roddy, along with some of our volunteers, met our great friend Marjorie Read and her fellow Roddam Court residents to join them in their annual Christmas Lights switch on. The torrential rain and wind were no match for the spirited residents and brave visitors and great fun was had by all!

Our very special thanks to Kerry, Caroline and Lauon from U’ve Pulled who kept everyone toasty with their delicious pulled pork & beef rolls and hot drinks, and who so generously donated £200 in takings to the Roddam Court Christmas Lights collection bucket for Berwick Cancer Cars. Thank you!

Our huge gratitude to Marjorie Read and the residents of Roddam Court, and to all our supporters who so generously make it possible for us to continue our vital community service for the people of Berwick & District. The Roddam Court Christmas Lights display in aid of Berwick Cancer Cars is a real festive treat for all the family and they’d love you to go along and show your support.

We all wish Roddy well on its first trip tomorrow down to the Wansbeck in the very safe hands of our Vehicle Fleet Manager, Tom Matthewson.
