Plundering Pirates of the North East Presentation for their 2022 Fundraising

Each year our marvellous marauding friends the Plundering Pirates of the North East go to tremendous lengths in their efforts to raise funds and raise awareness of Berwick Cancer Cars.

In 2022 the Pirates, lead by their valiant captain, Edward Teach, hosted and took part in several events throughout the year including sponsored walks; a shanty sing-along afternoon on Holy Island with the Auckland Shanty Singers (in fine voice!), a pirate punk party with live music, raffles and their infamous and teasingly tricky “rum bottle roll”!

In total the ferociously, fearless fundraisers, who genuinely put so much fun into everything they do, raised £2620.12 in aid of our Cars. On a gorgeous March afternoon on Holy Island our motley crew met with theirs to say a hearty thank you! Also in attendance was Cancer Car “Russell”, named in fond memory of Pirate Russell Toward who was a great supporter of our Cars – click here for the full story of the naming ceremony.

Check out our dedicated Pirates page on our website for more details about the crew and their previous fundraising exploits!

Many thanks to our safe-guarding officer, Nicola Warren, for the wonderful photos!
