Fiona McDonald - Berwick Cancer Cars

It was our absolute honour and privilege recently to meet with Shirley McDonald, Carlyn Smith, Diane Love and Marion Moscrop who, in a touchingly emotional presentation, donated a cheque to Berwick Cancer Cars for £30,000, made in fondest, loving memory of their sister Fiona McDonald who so sadly lost her battle with cancer.

Cancer Cars driver John Henderson was the first of our team of volunteer drivers to take Fiona from her home in Norham to a cancer appointment at Berwick Infirmary. John’s kindness, helpfulness and selfless professionalism during such a difficult time for Fiona and her family left such an impression that the sisters very thoughtfully asked John to accept their cheque presentation on behalf of the Berwick Cancer Cars team and so that they could thank him in person.

We were naturally much saddened by the news of Fiona’s passing but were glad to have been able to assist Fiona with hospital transport during her cancer treatment. We are enormously grateful and immensely humbled by the outstanding generosity shown to us by Fiona’s family in her memory. The kind donation will enable us to replace one of our older vehicles this year, enabling us help many, many other people in our Berwick and District community to reach their cancer related hospital appointments in comfort and in safe hands.
