Sunday 9th April, our huge thanks to Eddie Docherty Mullins, for putting us through our paces with his annual Holy Island to Berwick walk in remembrance of his sister Margie Nicholl and in aid of Berwick Cancer Cars. This year’s event took place on Easter Sunday to coincide with Eddie’s current tenure as Berwick Town Sheriff and was as popular as ever with 20 people (and 5 dogs) taking part, most of the walkers joined Eddie at the start point at Holy Island’s main car park at 9am to walk the entire 12 mile route, with others meeting up on the way to join in the fun. It was great to see so many people and the support everyone received en route was wonderful with toots and waves!
In total Eddie and his amazing walking fundraisers raised over £1000 for which we are very grateful. Eddie has been a tremendous supporter of our Cars over the years raising funds and awareness of our charity and says he hopes to continue his annual Holy Island to Berwick fundraising walk for as long as he can! Our Chair, Andrew Smith, presented Eddie with a Berwick Cancer Cars medal that we specially designed for our 2022 30th Year Anniversary.
Many thanks to the staff at the Goswick Golf Club for allowing us to use their facilities at the half-way point and for their kind support of Berwick Cancer Cars.
Big thank you to everyone for their photos of the walk (photo credits: Eddie Doherty-Mullins, Teresa Hardy Laidlaw, Roger Peaple and Nicola Warren)
