Tommy and Lennox

As we type the final figure is not yet in as Lennox and Tommy are still receiving donations for their latest fundraising adventure in aid of Berwick Cancer Cars. They have definitely smashed their target of £100 and will reach £1000 (or more!) – and we could not be more proud of our two local 10 year old heroes!

Lennox is a fantastic wee supporter and is always doing brilliant things to help our Cars, he came up with the idea of a 10 mile cycle challenge to raise funds for us. He and his great pal Tommy started to train and were thrilled when the managers at Go Outdoors, Berwick sponsored them by so very kindly donating safety cycle helmets.

Following several days of storms which battered the country, the day of the cycle challenge arrived with clear blue skies and with Berwick looking absolutely bari! The boys were sent off with cheers from well-wishers and were joined in support by Lennox’s dad, David, Cancer Cars Chair, Andrew and Media/Driver, Roger (it has to be added, the grown ups not having ridden bikes for a number of years!)

The route took in Spittal Prom, over the Old Bridge, Berwick’s famous Elizabethan Town Walls, Berwick Lighthouse, Magdalene Fields Golf Course, down and back New Road to cycle along the River Tweed, Royal Tweed Bridge, then back towards Spittal Prom.

At the finishing line of their 10 mile cycle challenge Lennox and Tommy were greeted at the end Spittal Prom by a fantastic cheering crowd, many of whom had waited the whole 90 mins plus to see the boys cross the finishing line.

Massive well done from all the Berwick Cancer Cars volunteers to our amazing heroes Lennox and Tommy for their wonderful fundraising efforts, Lennox is already planning his next fundraising adventure for us and we can’t wait to see what he comes up with!!

Many thanks to our Co-ordinator Nicola Warren for sharing such fantastic photos at the start and finish line and to all the supporters who came along to cheer the boys on and along the route, a big thank you to all those who donated to the boys’ 10 mile cycle challenge including those who so kindly handed donations to the boys during their cycle around Berwick. Absolutely wonderful!
