On a soggy Saturday evening 56 bowlers and non bowlers gathered at Tweedmouth Bowling Club for the annual Mens Killer Bowls, in aid of Berwick Cancer Cars. Despite the weather the competition went ahead, culminating in the final diagonal challenge. The youngest competitor in the final was Kyle Tucker, 11 years, and the eventual winner was Richard Brown. Supper was provided by Dougie Cranston, and raffles, football bingo and football cards raised over £1000 for our cars – the final amount to be confirmed. Many thanks go to Betty Dryden, Margaret Hamilton and Irene Mavin but also to all the competitors and supporters who made it such a great evening. The trophy was presented to Richard by David “Wakey” Wakenshaw. The Ladies Killer Bowls will be held on Saturday 19th August when the sun will be shining!! |
Many thanks to Shona McClymont, Berwick Cancer Cars Secretary for the event report wording and photos.
Each year Tweedmouth Bowling Club hold their popular “Mens and Ladies Killer Bowls” competitions in memory of Carol Ditchfield who was an outstanding supporter of Berwick Cancer Cars. In 2021, in recognition of Carol’s help to our charity, we named one of our cars in her memory to celebrate all those she helped (and continues to do so) in our very special community as a direct result of her tireless fundraising.
