Meet our two new cars “Fiona” and “Pearl”!!

Berwick Cancer Cars are the proud owners of two new Subarus, as we say a very fond farewell to “Stanx” and “Louise” who have both served the Berwick & District community so well over the last few years.

We were delighted that Carolyn and husband Keith Smith were able to join us at Tweedmouth Service Station for an official handover presentation as we collected “Fiona”, named after Carolyn’s sister Fiona McDonald who’s donation of £30,000 made it possible for us to buy our new car.

We first met with Carolyn Smith, Shirley McDonald, Diane Love and Marion Moscrop in a touchingly emotional presentation, when they donated a cheque to Berwick Cancer Cars for £30,000, made in fondest, loving memory of their sister Fiona McDonald who so sadly lost her battle with cancer. We were much saddened by the news of Fiona’s passing but were proud to have been able to assist Fiona with hospital transport during her cancer treatment. “Fiona” will help many hundreds of cancer patients during her time in service with us and we are indebted to Fiona’s family for their outstanding support.

Our second new car “Pearl” has been named to celebrate our 30th Anniversary! Little would our two founding members Violet Carter and Kathleen Horsburgh have thought back in 1992 that three decades later Berwick Cancer Cars would grow to a fleet of six cars, with a team of over fifty dedicated volunteers and to have such incredible support from the people of Berwick & District and far beyond our North Northumberland community.

Our immense gratitude to Guy Flannigan and all the team at Tweedmouth Service Station for their continued support to Berwick Cancer Cars. Our relationship with them has been tremendous, they have never let us down and always on hand to offer a friendly, fast and faultless service if ever needed.

Thank you to all our supporters and fundraisers who have collectively made it possible for us to replace two of our older vehicles this year. Our brand new cars “Fiona” and “Pearl” now proudly sit alongside “Emma”, “Russell” “Carol” and “Roddy” (all named after exceptional fundraisers) and ready for duty to help those with a cancer diagnosis in the Berwick and District community to reach their cancer related hospital treatments and appointments in comfort and in safe hands.
